Valparaiso Inn Bed & Breakfast Policies

Reservations: To confirm a reservation, full advance payment of the room and tax is required. The Valparaiso Inn is required to collect 7% Indiana Sales Tax, and 5% Porter County Hotel & Inkeeper Tax on all charges.

Payment and Credit Cards: Valparaiso Inn accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express for payment. To keep your payment and personal information safe, we utilize Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software. This industry-standard software uses encryption to protect your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, from being accessed over the Internet. Guests who prefer to make payment by Check, may mail their advance payment to the Valparaiso Inn. Reservations will be confirmed only after payment is received and has cleared.

Arrival: Check-in time is between 3:30 PM and 6:00 PM Central Standard Time. Guests whom are unable to arrive during these times will need to contact The Valparaiso Inn for check-In procedures.

Departure: Check-out time is 10:00 AM. This is to allows ample time to clean and prepare suites for the next arriving guests.

Occupancy: Suites are priced the same for double or single occupancy. The Stella, Kara, Julia, and Madeline rooms are double or single occupancy only. The Gianna Suite has a Queen size bed and an antique Three-Quarter Murphy Bed that can accommodate a third guest, however there is an additional $30 charge per night, for a third quest. The Valparaiso Inn does not provide roll-away beds or baby cribs. There is a $30 charge for changing rooms mid-stay.

Cancellations: Due to our small size, cancelled reservations greatly impact our business. Payments for rooms canceled 14 days or less prior to arrival, will be forfeited, unless we can rebook the cancelled guest suite(s). Guests who need to depart earlier than the original departure date will forfeit their payment unless we can rebook the suite(s). Any refunds given will be subject to a $20 processing fee.

Cuisine: The suite rate includes a full multi-course gourmet breakfast for one or two guests. Complementary coffee/tea and other assorted non-alcoholic beverages are available to guests throughout their stay. Guests may invite friends and family, not staying at the Valparaiso Inn, to join them for breakfast for an additional charge of $20 per person. Prior arrangements must be made with the Innkeeper, as this service is capacity dependent. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions or needs prior to arrival. We will do our best to accommodate you.

Single Night Stays: The Valparaiso Inn reserves the right to reassign guest accommodations to an equal or upgraded suite, at no additional cost, up until the time of arrival.

Discounts: A 10% discount will be given to guests who stay three (3) days or longer.

Pets: Pets are not permitted at the Valparaiso Inn. There are number of boarding facilities that the Innkeepers can recommend. The Innkeepers have three Maltese dogs that reside with them in the Innkeepers’ quarters. The Innkeepers’ dogs are not permitted in the guest suites or common areas.

Hot Tub: An outdoor six-person hot tub is available for guest enjoyment. Guests may use the hot tub after requesting the innkeeper remove the cover. The hot tub is kept at a temperature of 101 F. All guests, including those with diabetes, heart conditions, and any other medical conditions use the hot tub “At Their Own Risk.” The hot tub may be used until 10:00 PM at night. Please dry off completely and use footwear before entering the house and returning to your suite. Additional towels are available on the porch for hot tub use. Please only use of bathroom towels for bathing.

Children: Well behaved children over 10 years are welcomed. The Valparaiso Inn mas many antiques, fine rugs, and custom textiles. Breakfast is served on formal settings of China & Crystal. Parents are financially responsible for any damages their children cause.
